About Us

The corner of Joplin Avenue and Jensen highway has been home to a greenhouse since the 1960s. After the original owners decided to retire in 1994, we purchased the business and have been operating River Run Greenhouse ever since. We take pride in being a family-owned business, and our team is dedicated to providing the Hot Springs area with an excellent variety of plants and garden accessories.

We are licensed by the State of South Dakota and strive to make your shopping and planting experience a happy one and look forward to helping you for years to come.

In 2023, our Hot Springs Chamber of Commerce voted us Retail Business of the Year. We were honored to be recognized by our fellow small business owners and appreciate the validation this brings to our business plan.

We are excited for you to see what we have in store for 2024 and beyond.

Our Team

Caitlyn Mosset Owner, President

Caitlyn grew up spending every spring in the greenhouse, and eventually she became helpful with more than just carry-out and worm collecting. After years as the hired help, she took over in 2017. Caitlyn is our go-to when it comes to helping customers design the best planting for their specific yard. She’s also a house plant aficionado and can share all her best tips for keeping them alive.

Caitlyn’s favorite plants: Monarda and Rosemary

Cathy Mosset Owner, CFO

Cathy purchased the greenhouse in 1994 from its original owner, Marv. With the help of great friends like Dee, Rosie and Jolin, she ran the greenhouse for years until her daughter, Caitlyn, took over in 2017. Cathy loves to spend mornings in her extensive wildflower garden. She is the greenhouse’s resident plant expert and can still be seen roaming the flower aisles from time to time.

Cathy’s favorite plants: Echinacea and Zinnias

Lauren Weiss Owner, Marketing Guru

Along with her sister, Lauren grew up in the greenhouse. As our resident creative, she loved using the rhubarb patch out back to craft her own princess costumes back in the day. Lauren recently moved back to Hot Springs and is ready to get her hands dirty. Not just our marketing guru, in 2024, she’s spearheading our expanding landscaping and vacation watering programs.

Lauren’s favorite plants: Iris and Larkspur

Myron Mosset Maintenance

Keeping a 60-year-old greenhouse together in one piece is no easy task, but Myron works tirelessly every spring to prepare the building for the upcoming season. You’ll often spot him around the property taking care of our beloved greenhouse or helping unload plant shipments.

Myron’s favorite plants: Cherry Bomb Peppers

Jared & Amos Weiss Technical/Moral Support

Since joining the Greenhouse family in 2014, Jared has been providing technical support to the plant ladies. He also works to keep moral high with his quick wit. His new intern Amos loves to play in the dirt.

Jared’s favorite plants: Roses & Larkspur Amos’s favorite plants: Peas

Dick Vollmuth Quality Control

Dick is not one of those retired guys that can sit at home, so he can often be seen popping by the greenhouse. Whether watering, or performing quality control on our popsicle stash, Dick is happy to help (as long as there isn’t a pickleball game going somewhere in town).

Dick’s favorite plants: Tomatoes & Roses

Nyla Buchholz Customer Experience Officer

Nyla’s bubbly personality is contagious, and she brings with her a lifelong love of gardening. She strives to make sure every customer leaves happy! It is in her blood after all! Her mother, Dee, was our chief plant lady for over 20 years. We are excited to have her back again this year.

Nyla’s favorite plants: Gaillardia & Dahlia

Part Time Associates

Along with our main crew, our full team of plant lovers put their all in to keeping our clients happy and our plants healthy, doing everything from watering to unloading trucks in the dark, delivering manure or prepping the building in the spring. They are a much-appreciated part of our greenhouse family and we couldn’t do it without them.
